One Tired Gamma

Been taking care of the Boo for 4 days and nights... wiping sweat off with back of hand across forehead ... swooshhhhh

Here is a picture that Uncle Ted and Aunt Gla will love... they got Gunnar a stuffed deer head when he was born and my Husband mounted it. It has yet to be hung on the wall but he just loves this deer! He hugs it and kisses it right on the end of its nose!
He is getting so grown up! Here he is helping Papa water the trees (he is lounging on the back of the quad while Papa does all the work) Lol.
Don't you just love our make shift watering tank. Lol

Déjà vu / Writer's Workshop

I decided to link this post to http://mamakatslosinit.blogspot.com/2009/07/writers-workshop-parfait-with-no-nuts.html
It goes with her #1 prompt.

So, I am taking care of the Boo and it was nap time! He had his lunch, his bottom was changed (mind you, he already pooped) and I put him in bed! He always plays for a little bit before he goes to sleep. About 20 minutes later he still hasn't fallen to sleep so I figure he just isn't ready quite yet so I open the door to his room... and stop dead in my tracks, my hands fly to my face and I make a huge suck in your breath kind of noise and just stand there for at least ten seconds...

In my mind I fly back about 24 years in time... walking into my daughters room to lay her back down and tell her to go to sleep (I had already been in there several times and got after her for taking her diaper off)... stopping dead in my tracks, seeing red oh so much red... next thing I know my kid is in the bath, I am scrubbing her from head to toe because there isn't one place on her that doesn't have poop. It was all over the wall next to her crib, all over her crib and bedding, up and down each spoke of the crib... when it was all cleaned up and she was put back in her bed to take a nap (mind you I was big fat pregnant with my next child) I start crying and call my Mom to tell her what a horrible Mom I am because I don't remember everything that happened when I was seeing red and her asking me if she was alright and me saying yes and so on and so on...
[In the Picture is Candace and I... oh, a couple months after this event.]

Fast forward back 24 years ahead to the same scene only its my grandson and thinking, this is not how it is suppose to happen... my daughter is suppose to be calling me and telling me that there was sh*t all over.

I come to my senses and my hands are still on my face only this time my sweet Boo is looking up at me (with poop all over him) and has a smile on his face and is waving at me. (my heart melted)

I want you to know that at the age of 47 and with grandchildren I have so much more patience.

I turned around and went into the bathroom and started warming the water(I have a sprayer) in the tub... went into the Boos room and very carefully picked him up and put him in the tub, sprayed all the major pieces from him scrubbed him from head to toe, cleaned out the tub while he stood at the end of the tub, refilled the tub and cleaned him again from head to toe... all the while he is not saying or smiling or waving or anything because he knew Gamma was mad, got him lotioned and dressed, we went back into his room and I set him down on the bed in that room and told him not to move and he watched while I tore all the bedding off the crib, scrubbed all the poop off all the spokes of the crib, threw the pacifier away because it had poop all over it and got him a new one (I so wanted to clean his mouth with peroxide or something because I knew he had to of put it in his mouth with poop on it... Yuck), remade the crib put him in it and told him to go to sleep. I walked out and I never heard a peep.

I want you to know he was so good through all that, if he started to grab something or move, I would tell him not to move and he would stand there or sit up and put both hands in his lap. My poor Boo, Gamma was mad at him and he wasn't quite sure what to do.

When my daughter came to pick him up, she got quite a tongue lashing that turned into laughter. I told her it wasn't fair... it was her turn to clean up all that poop. Lol

I never saw red though, so I think I am a better Granma than I was a Mom!

Thankful Thursday #5

This theme is possible because of the inspiration of another blogger, Pam at http://pamperspective.blogspot.com/

I am having such a tough time thinking of things this last couple weeks. My mind needs to slow down and smell the roses. So here goes...

1. I am so thankful for... My Aunt Vaunnie who had a horrible fall and is doing very well now.

2. I am so thankful for... Rocksee and her blog, At the Porch Swing at http://620to907.blogspot.com/. She has made me laugh and cry. She seems to me, a pretty strong young lady... she has to be to be a dispatcher. Thanks again Rocksee, for the wonderful giveaway on your 100th blog. Hope all your dreams come true in Alaska!

3. I am so thankful for... God and all the things He does in my life!

4. I am so thankful for... My Girls, they are wonderful to their Mother.

5. And of course, I am so thankful for... My Boo! My Sweet Baby Boy would not take a nap and then fell asleep in his high chair.

Stinky Dog = Stinky House!

Oh my poor nose... Lol

The new dog (Ruger) gets my hubby up every morning at 5:30 to take him outside... when you gotta go, you gotta go! Anyways, Sat morning was no exception. But.......... Ruger decided to play with a skunk... Lol
Splat... spray... etc! Very stinky dog!!! Very stinky BIG dog!!! So... the online search genius (my hubby) reads everything he can about how to get this stuff off an animal along with the stink. This is what he came up with...
Here is a picture of Dane washing him with a gallon of peroxide, 1/2 cup of baking soda and dish soap all mixed together. After you get it on the dog and scrub him really good it is suppose to sit on him for ten minutes. Dane had to scrub him down with this mixture twice. and it worked for the most part but he was also splat... sprayed on the face and ear.
Couldn't really scrub his face with that mixture so he tried to at least get it on there so it could sit for the ten minutes, but it didn't work as well. Lol
When that was all done he was rinsed off and brought into the house where we proceeded to give him a bath as well hoping that would help around the face... maybe it helped a little... maybe. The hubby couldn't handle it so when that was done he sprayed him with some of his cologne (mind you it was the kind I can't stand). Of course, he didn't want to waste his good stuff on a dog. Lol
Three days later, I think the smell is almost gone... I had to throw away the flea coller (it was so bad, I guess that plastic or whatever it is made out of soaks it in) And I think his regular coller is also going in the garbage. I can't get the smell out of it!
Anyway, hope everyone had a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday #4

This theme is possible because of the inspiration of another blogger, Pam at http://pamperspective.blogspot.com/

1. I am so Thankful... that my Locker (a Jack Russell Terrier) is feeling better even though we wont have her for much longer. She has a rare form of bladder cancer.

2. I am so Thankful... that I am finally sitting down and writing this post. Like Pam, I think it is good to think back over your week (this is 2 for me) and appreciate the big and little things that happen in your life.
3. I am so Thankful... that my baby (Dana, my youngest) has turned 23 today.

4. I am so Thankful... that my oldest has found a friend (maybe a boyfriend) that is responsible and seems like an upstanding young man. He is in the Army and has been in Iraq where he got hurt serving our country and is now home.

5. I am so Thankful... that my hubby is almost done with that wonderful pantry he is building me.

6. I am so Thankful... that I found the material to finish the skylights in my new L/O. I am going to re-upholster my desk chair and make a message board with it as well.

7. I am so Thankful... that my middle toe is feeling better since I wasn't watching where I was going and broke it while stubbing it. I don't really know if it is broke but if it isn't, it was the worst pain I felt in a long time.

8. And of course... I am so Thankful... for my sweet, starting his terrible 2's early, beautiful grandson. He is way fun now learning all there is and especially the things he isn't suppose to do. I have so much more patience with him than I did my own.
